Jam Cruise Celebrates 10th Sailing, Announces Artist Lineup Jam Cruise Celebrates 10th Sailing, Announces Artist Lineup
[ May 3, 2011 - Share ]

Few music gatherings can offer adventure in addition to entertainment, but Jam Cruise is a different EXPERIENCE than any other music event out there. See a herd of zebra-striped party people stampede down gangways? Hobnob with the inventors of funk and rock while they too have the time of their lives? Watch the best musicians on earth while percolating in a hot tub under blue skies on the open sea? The answer: nowhere else besides Jam Cruise!

The 10th sailing of Jam Cruise will be January 9 – 14, 2012, leaving from Ft. Lauderdale, FL and traveling to Labadee, Haiti and Falmouth, Jamaica before turning homeward. Once again, the MSC Poesia will be home to Jam Cruise 10. Cabins go on sale to the public Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at noon EST. Anyone who pre-booked will be able to book accordin...

EOTO: A Vicious Bass Onslaught EOTO: A Vicious Bass Onslaught
[ Apr 13, 2011 - Share ]

Dubstep has arrived. It's in the clubs. It's on TV, insidiously creeping into commercials and terrorizing radio waves around the world; from Berlin to New York City and everywhere in between, Dubstep is a force to be reckoned with. The once-underground phenomenon crossed the pond and went mainstream. Thanks to its growing popularity, amateur producers just flip on their low frequency oscillators and take a nap. Drab and derivative, the genre has been co-opted by DJs simply regurgitating the work of others. There is one act, though, that has been leading the way and setting the standard for live performance Dubstep/Electro/House for over five relentless years. One force that does it live.

The cyber-kinetic bass juggernaut EOTO is Dubstep's savior and innovator. Two twisted demons blasting razor-bass and shrapnel beats from coast to coast and beyond. Snarling and brutal, these psy-dub beat sorcerers create Dubstep fro...

Yonder Mountain String Band is clearly the exception to the rule, having performed in front of more than 250,000 fans over just the past year. In 2008, the band was even honored with the distinction of opening up for Barack Obama at the Democratic National Convention (Denver, CO), which brought the group in front of 75,000 people at INVESCO Field at Mile High Stadium. The weekly Wednesday performance runs through April 6th and features an array of special guest performers such as New Orleans legend Henry Butler, Marco Benevento, Adam Deitch, John Molo, Pete Sears, John Morgan Kimock, with other special and surprise guests. Regarded as a true "musician's musician," Kimock has been coined, "an unknown legend" in a recent CNN piece, and a master of his craft, it's no wonder that Jerry Garcia dubbed him one of his favorite unknown guitar players.

Kimock has gone out of his way to maintain an authentic relationship with his instrument and his sound. Many focus on music specifically, not dealing with sound as the main component. For Kimock, the sound is the reason that he plays and the music is the vessel. With excit...
