Dark Star Orchestra kicks off their Rex Caravan Fall Tour this weekend in Seattle at the Showbox on Thursday. To benefit Grateful Dead-founded The Rex Foundation, $1 from each ticket sold on this tour will go to directly support the work of this great organization – DSO has raised over $160,000 for the Rex Foundation since 2002.

The second night of DSO’s tour is the Rex Black Tie-Dye Ball, a gala event of music and charity is taking place this Friday, September 25 at The Crystal Ballroom in Portland, OR where all the proceeds for this fundraiser go to fund local grants that the Rex Foundation gives out to Portland area non-profits. Complete event details can be found here: http://rexfoundation.org/2009/07/29/black-tie-dye-ball-9-25-2009/

Following the Rex Black Tie-Dye Ball and a second night at the Crystal Ballroom, the band heads south with stops in Eugene, OR and Chico, CA before landing in San Fran for three nights at the legendary Fillmore Auditorium. From there the bus rolls on to other of California with stops in Petaluma, Santa Cruz (for a rare and special acoustic set), Hollywood and San Diego. Then it’s a return to ‘Sin City’ as DSO turns ‘The Strip’ into Shakedown Street for one night only. DSO wraps the tour with a run including a two-night stand at The Depot in Salt Lake City and stops at Denver’s Fillmore and Fort Collins.
