Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) was among the estimated 15 or more victims of a shooting outside a Safeway store in Tucson, Arizona within the past hour. So far, 15 are reported wounded, 6 dead. Details are still coming in, but what has been reported so far: she was "shot point blank in the head," the assailant(s) fired some 15 or more shots into the crowd, and this took place at a "town hall" sort of event during where Giffords was speaking to her constituents. One shooter is reported to be alive and in custody

It's finally done. This afternoon, the Senate voted to repeal DADT 65-31, with five Republicans lending their hand to the historic change. Obama is expected to sign the bill into law next week, but the bill still does have a long way to go -- an implementation plan still has to be drawn up, and once it's set in place the bill allots a 60-day waiting period before it's official. But it's not hard to imagine LGBT service members breathing a little easier today, knowing they can be themselves while in the service of our country. Furthermore, Harry Reid has asked the Pentagon to stop any DADT investigations and discharges immediately, -- which means Lt Dan Cho and others like him can rest easy, too.
