It was no foolin’. Musical legends, the funky METERS came by Austin on April 1st for a single night in Texas at the Historic Scoot Inn. Made up of members Art “Poppa Funk” Neville on Keys, George Porter, Jr. on Bass, Brian Stoltz on Guitar and Terrance Houston on Drums, the band came to get funky in Austin with a solid 2+ hour set.
After having Austin locals Mingo Fishtrap warmed up the crowd with their soul powered jams, funky METERS came out opening with an instrumental jam called Funky Miracle before weaving the into Soul Island and Sissy Strut. The music continued with a funk filled set that included a smoling Fiya on the Bayou> Keep on Marching> Love Slip On Ya> The Dragon> Funky Momma before finally wrapping with what seemed like a 15 minute cover of Voo Doo Child. The energy was palpable when leaving the venue that night; many having felt the effects of being in the presence of music royalty.
