2009 Mountain Jam announced! Tix on Sale now!

(January 22, 2009, Woodstock, NY) - Radio Woodstock and acclaimed guitarist Warren Haynes (Gov't Mule, The Allman Brothers Band, The Dead) have once again teamed up to bring the fifth annual Mountain Jam Music Festival (www.mountainjam.com) to picturesque Hunter, NY from Friday, May 29th-Sunday, May 31st .

Gov't Mule will anchor the festival for the fifth year in a row, while The Allman Brothers Band will make their exclusive Northeast festival appearance at Mountain Jam as part of their 40th anniversary celebration. In addition, the three-day event will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the legendary Woodstock Music & Arts Festival, which took place in nearby Bethel, NY. Early bird tickets will go on sale Monday, January 26th through www.mountainjam.com.

Mountain Jam favorites Michael Franti & Spearhead will return for their fourth festival appearance along with Ray Lamontagne and Jackie Greene. A diverse array of first time Mountain Jam performers will join in, such as Coheed & Cambria, The Derek Trucks Band, The Hold Steady, Richie Havens, Railroad Earth, Porter Batiste & Stoltz, Brett Dennen, The Lee Boys, and many others. Late Night performances will begin at 1 am and will take place both outside "Under the Stars" and inside The Hunter Mountain Lodge. DJ phenomenon Girl Talk will be one of the late night performers. Other bands will be announced soon.

"What a thrill to have The Allman Brothers Band celebrate their 40th Anniversary at Mountain Jam" said promoter Gary Chetkof, who named the Festival after the Brothers song of the same name. It's a big year for anniversaries - 40th Allman Brothers Band's anniversary, 40th Woodstock Festival and 5th Mountain Jam. We expect that there will be more magic on the Mountain than usual.....which is hard to imagine!

Added Haynes, "Part of the beauty of Mountain Jam is that you never know who you are going to see playing with who...and sometimes for the very first time. That is what makes it so joyous. It's like a vacation while we're playing -- its such a beautiful place and you're with people you know and love .The fact that it's such a beautiful location makes it that much better for the audience and performers"

The festival's forward thinking Awareness Village will once again host Rock The Earth, a not-for-profit environmental advocacy group, Headcount, which promotes voter registration, and Community Energy, a company committed to increasing the domestic supply of clean, fuel-free energy. The festival has a strong environmental program and will be implementing bio-degradable vending supplies and a strong recycling and post event clean-up program.

Originally conceived as a single-day celebration timed with Radio Woodstock's 25th anniversary, Mountain Jam has blossomed into a three-day, multi-stage event, featuring onsite camping, a full Awareness Village, and one of the northeast's most pristine natural amphitheaters. Over the years, Mountain Jam has hosted some of the top names in live music, including Phil Lesh & Friends, Levon Helm's Ramble on The Road, My Morning Jacket, Bob Weir & RatDog, Drive-By Truckers, Dr. Dog, Medeski Scofield Martin & Wood, Mike Gordon, G. Love & Special Sauce, Ozomatli, Galactic, Xavier Rudd, Umphrey's McGee and Robert Randolph & the Family Band, among many others.

The Hunter Mountain Lodge will provide fans with 24-hour access to both food and indoor bathrooms, while onsite camping and a smorgasbord of nearby hotels and lodges will ensure that all attendees will have a wide variety of accommodations. This year Mountain Jam will also offer expanded VIP options, and will bring back its highly acclaimed "Tavern in the Woods" featuring private bar area and hammocks, as well as a shaded hospitality tent, and a variety of gourmet food and beverages.

Hunter Mountain is located within a short drive from anywhere in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut and is considered the unofficial kick off to the Northeast festival season. Fans unable to attend will be able to experience the music as well, thanks to the festival's interactive blog and innovative webcast, which drew close to 50,000 viewers from all over the world in 2008.

Mountain Jam passes will be available at www.mountainjam.com beginning Monday, January 26th. Early bird festival passes without camping will be offered at $129.50, before being raised to the next tier of $139.50. Early bird three-day camping festival passes are being offered at $149.50 and will then be raised to the next tier of $159.50 after that allotment sells out. A limited number of VIP tickets will be offered initially at $349.50. A very small number of RV tickets are available at $175, plus a camping festival ticket.

Single day tickets will be available at a later date - there will be no Friday Only single day tickets issued.

Tickets will be made available at mountainjam.com and at mule.net.
