The Winter Tour has just started for moe. with  a show in Austin on Thursday, and Dallas on Friday.  It’s been a while since the band has actually been on tour, but it didn’t take them too long to shake off the cobwebs.  The Dallas show, at the Granada Theater, opened with a lively and jam-laden Dr. Graffenberg.  This was followed by Gone and then Timmy Tucker.  I checked my watch and we were already almost 45 minutes into the set, and there were only three songs written on my setlist so far.  Next up was Skrunk, then Time Again, and then without a huddle, Captain America to finish the set.

The second set opened up with Tambourine, then Shoot First and Suck a Lemon.  It was at this point that the set really caught fire, as they started into Puebla.  It was a super version, with Al out on the edge of the stage pouring it out to the audience.  Smoke, a new tune first played at Summer Camp this year, Tubing the River Styx into the Pit just continued to build the anticipation, until you heard the first notes of the intro to Rebubula.  There was no hiding what was coming next.  The crowd was brought to climax with one of the great jam tunes of all time.  What a great way to end the second set.  The encore was a great, Okayalright and She.Looks like the Winter Tour is already in full force.  Tomorrow the band plays Fitzgerald’s in Houston, another small, intimate venue.
